What if you're solving the wrong problem?
Execution Is Rarely the Problem
When growth stalls, most founders reach for the same diagnosis: something isn't being executed well enough.
The team needs to move faster.
The funnel needs tightening. The offer needs another iteration. The assumption underneath all of it is that effort and precision are the missing variables.
At the level you're operating, that's almost never true.
You've already proven you can execute. You built a profitable business. You solve hard problems.
Execution is not your constraint, it's your identity, and that's exactly what makes it a blind spot.
The constraint at this stage is almost always what you chose to execute, not how.
A well-executed bad decision is still a bad outcome. It just arrives faster, with more confidence, and with more resources committed behind it.
Execution compounds direction, which means if the direction is slightly wrong, execution makes it worse.
The founders who break through a plateau rarely do it by executing harder. They do it by quietly reconsidering what's actually on the list and why.
Which initiatives are there because they're genuinely high-leverage, and which ones are there because they're familiar, executable, and safe to keep doing?
Most businesses have dashboards built around execution metrics. Very few have any honest accounting of decision quality, whether the bets placed this year were the right bets, or just the most comfortable ones.
Speed and efficiency don't fix direction. They amplify it.
The question worth asking this week: if you removed your three lowest-leverage initiatives tomorrow, what would actually get worse?
